Shams Generation student Alex Greene talks about his solar art project

Student Alex Greene of the International School of London is one of the thousands of students that are taking part in QSTec's Shams Generation (SG) initiative.
Student Alex Greene, of the International School of London, is one of the thousands of students that are taking part in QSTec's Shams Generation (SG) initiative. SG is a hands on learning program that combines solar energy with science, technology, engineering, art and maths (STEAM) that was designed by QSTec to expand the knowledge of solar power within our community. There are 3 levels of solar learning that span from primary school right through to university level.
Alex is taking part in level 2 of the SG program. Teachers undertake workshops for each of the program levels and the tools to enable them to teach the project. The students are then supplied with SG level 2 solar kits that contain a number of solar cells, wires, switches, energy storage devices, electric motors and LED lights. They then they bring in used items from home and then draw upon their STEAM skills to create works of solar art.
Alex's art piece is a work in progress, but he allowed us to get a glimpse of what is to come and what he is creating is remarkable.
